The Salvation Army needs our help!

Every year The Salvation Army distributes thousands of food boxes and toys to people in need in our community during Christmas.Our Volunteer Coordinator here at The Salvation Army approached me today, asking if our church could help with some volunteer needs that we have. December 22nd, (The Salvation Army's big Christmas Cheer Distribution) - from 6:00 - 9:00 pm - The Salvation Army needs at least 35 persons, pushing grocery carts full of food from the building to people's cars. There is also a need for people to do work inside the distribution center. This is pretty much a little bit of a crisis. I have offered our church's help many times - and haven't been taken up on the offer, becuase The Salvation Army has a large pool of volunteers that they already pull from. To have the volunteer corrdinator approach me on this, means she has already used all of our internal resources, and is in desperate need for help.Distribution is at the DeSalle Center at the fairgrounds. You will have the opportunity to have direct contact with people in need in this city. Dave and I helped do this a couple years ago, and it's a wonderful experience.If you are interested please e-mail me at:

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Dave and I are going to see The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe this Sunday after church. We thought we would go to lunch after church and then to the movie at the Lennox. Please come!

We are having our halloween party this coming Saturday, October 29th at 7:30. Dress up if you dare!!!! I will have punch, chili and dessert. If you would like anything else, please bring it. Halloween Party

Dave and I are going to have a Halloween Party on Saturday, October 29th. Mark your calanders! We will have more info to come!!!!

Killer Bees

Today Dave and I were eating lunch outside today. We were just finishing up lunch and a bee started to attack us. Seriously attacking us. He was taking turns flying into my head and Dave's head. So we ran into the housing, yelling and hoping that the bee wouldn't follow us into the house. Well it didn't come into the house but it did hover around the back door - where we ran in. Ben our dog was still outside the house and the bee started to buzz around Ben's ears as well - ben tried to shake him off a few times. Finally the bee went away and we were able to open the door to let Ben back in the house. KILLER BEE!!!!

A friend needs help

Hello everyone,
I have a situation at work and I was hoping to get some assistance - if we can - from the body of believers.

There is a woman here that I have been working with for years here and her husband kicked her and her two teen age children out this past Saturday night. I guess he came home Saturday night and said that they haed to pack up and leave and was clicking a revolver while they were packing. Neddless to say, they didn't end up packing a whole lot of stuff. Mom has found a place to stay - they should move in today or tomorrow - but her and the kids have NO FURNITURE what-so-ever. She may be able to go to a furniture bank - but they will have very limited items.
Most needed items:
Beds
Couch
Dressers
Dryer (she already has a washer)
Blankets
and other household items.

This woman has some money to buy some things (not everything - becuase setting up a house frm scratch is very expensive), but I told her to wait because I had a great group of people that may have some extra - whatever - lying around.

If you have anything - please let me know and I do some organizing - to get these things to my friend at work.
